The full charge heavy attack will knock enemies to the ground, same as the astora and cathedral, and it also has stomp weapon art which will lead to a massive heavy attack uppercut that sends enemies flying into the air, and it seriously never gets old. The black knight gs is very fun to use, as it has quite a unique moveset which changes a bit between 1 and 2 handed. The cathedral knight GS which can be obtained from any of the cathedral knights using it in the cathedral of the deep, but the easiest way to farm is from the deacons bonfire. Use the farron keep perimeter bonfire for easy access. The black knight GS which will be dropped by the black knight in the crucifixion woods (crab swamp). Now, if you just want a str build and a GS, there are two fantastic options you can obtain early in the game, though they will take some farming. There are really two main reasons to choose one of these over refined which are: you want to use spells. This means you do massive melee damage without investing much into str and dex. At +10 reinforcement you will get B scaling in both stats. Both options here are good as many enemies in the game are weak to dark or fire, with almost none resisting both. This is nice because it is a very versatile way to exploit enemy and boss weaknesses.Ĭhaos infusion: adds fire damage. Refined infusion: you have the advantage of buffing with magic by means of consumables or spells to increase damage further. A quality build which means you infuse with a refined gem which will balance the scaling of both str and dex, or a chaos or dark infusion which will balance scaling between faith and int. Ultra Greatswords are Very Big Swords that slow in both modes and usually bigger than your character and have great weight.Īstora GS is actually an Ultra and it is a unique Ultra that favors Dex and Sharp infusion. The only greatsowrd that is truly Strength-based is Heavy infused Claymore - it completely drops Dex scaling and instead has great Strength scaling. Str favoring greatswords that you may want to try - Black knight Sword, Executioner GS, Claymore, Wolf Knight GS. In fact most of the greatswords are better with quality build (40/40 Str/Dex for one-handed mode or 26/40 for two-handed). Hollowslayer is a greatsword that scales more from Dex but actually wants you to have both Str and Dex. They are at a size a bit smaller that your character and have medium weight.
Greatswords are Big Swords that pretty slow one-handed, but a bit faster two-handed. And also game sometimes calls something a greatswords, but it is totally not. There are two types of big swords in the game - Greatswords and Ultra Greatswords. I see some misconception in this thread about weapon types.
