The neck does appear to be straight, and the frets are real good. The frets look very good, lots of life left on them. You can tell this from the last photo that I have up above in the ebay 12 slot photo montage, on the last photos, you can see the deep indentations and marks the inline tuners made on the wood on the headstock. Which were the style of tuners that were popular back in the day. LOTS of Mojo on this baby, and it's got the Relic worn down look that comes naturally with time that you just cannot perfectly recreate with new ones. It does not seem likely this is a Fender Neck, it appears to be an early Japanese OR American made Telecaster neck. It's possible this neck came from an American made or Japanese made knock off Telecaster at the time. Somewhere along the line, all the decals and markings were stripped clean off this neck. Johnny acquired this Telecaster Guitar in the very early 70s when he was with a VERY young Stevie Ray Vaughn, it was used back then, and this neck came off that. And its been in storage for the past 15 yrs. etc) A friend of mine bought this from Johnny ages ago. Huge hits, Shes About A Mover, Mendocino. Perez was the drummer for the Sir Douglas Quintet back in the 1960s( you know. The neck came off a Telecaster Guitar that was owned by Johnny Perez in 1971. Ill describe the neck's condition more in detail below, but first the backstory that goes with this neck. Has naturally been worn through the years to have that Aged Relic look, but unlike the made up ones, this is the Real Thing.
